Tax efficient planning

Without careful planning, Inheritance Tax (IHT) can take a significant portion of your estate, leaving less for your loved ones. It's reach is wide, and even a modest estate can be affected, while larger estates may face substantial liabilities.

At Heritage & Co, we help you make the most of available strategies, from helping plan your Will to using lifetime gifts and creating tax-efficient funds. Pensions can also play an important role in inheritance planning, though proposed changes coming into effect in April 2027 may alter how pensions are treated for IHT purposes.

The value of a pension will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The levels and bases of taxation, and reliefs from taxation, can change at any time. The value of any tax relief is generally dependent on individual circumstances.

Will writing involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place. Wills are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

We work with leading legal firms

We work closely with leading legal firms on SJP's legal panel to provide guidance on a range of services, including IHT, marriage-related issues, and general tax planning.

Our approach is designed to help you protect your estate and help maximise what you leave to your beneficiaries. Please note that legal services are provided through a separate service to those offered by St. James's Place.
